Electrical Devices
The first electric phonographs made use of vacuum tubes in order to produce a loud enough sound to be heard throughout the room. The first of these was created by AMI in 1927, The National Automatic Selection Phonograph.
It was at this time that the producers of jukeboxes became more aware of the importance of aesthetics. Devices produced from this era onwards were made to more closely resemble the hugely successful floor-model radios. They were styled so as to be visually appealing to the customer instead of the rather spartan furnishings of the older models. The company which made the best use of this new design was Wurlitzer.
